From design and selections to demo, rough-in, waterproofing, tile and final walkthrough — how a Houston bathroom remodel is sequenced.
A bathroom remodel runs in two phases: planning (design, selections, permits) and construction (demo, rough-in, inspection, waterproofing, tile, fixtures, punch list). Construction length depends on scope — keeping the layout is faster than moving plumbing or changing walls — and on having every selection on site before demo. Novara gives you a written schedule with the scope before work starts.
Phase 1: design and selections
Measure, set the layout and choose tile, vanity, fixtures, glass and lighting. Ordering everything before demolition is the single biggest factor in staying on schedule, since special-order items are the most common cause of delays.
Phase 2: permits (if needed)
Moving plumbing, adding circuits or changing structure generally needs a permit. Inside Houston city limits this goes through the City of Houston; licensed trades pull permits for their own work.
Phase 3: demo and rough-in
Demo exposes framing and plumbing, and any hidden damage gets documented. Plumbing and electrical rough-in follow, then inspection where required.
Phase 4: waterproofing and tile
Backer board and a continuous waterproofing membrane go in and are flood-tested before tile. Tile, grout and sealing typically make up the longest part of construction.
Phase 5: fixtures, glass and walkthrough
Vanity, tops, fixtures and accessories are installed; shower glass is measured after tile and installed last. A final walkthrough produces a punch list before closeout.
