From first sketch to final walk-through — the phases, the pauses, and the milestones that actually move the project.
Design and permitting: 8–14 weeks
Most homeowners underestimate this phase. Between measured drawings, selections, engineering, and City of Houston permitting, expect roughly two to three months before a single wall comes down.
Construction: 4–8 months
Demolition and rough-ins move fast. Drywall, cabinetry, tile, and trim are where the schedule can stretch — usually because of long-lead materials or client change orders, rarely because of the crew.
Punch list and closeout: 2–3 weeks
The last 2% of a project takes 20% of the attention. A good builder plans for it instead of pretending it won't happen.
